Siyakwazi Calls for Secondhand Donations to Support Children with Disabilities
PRESS RELEASE: KwaNzimakwe, KwaZulu-Natal – Siyakwazi, a local nonprofit organisation committed to supporting children with disabilities in the KwaNzimakwe and KwaXolo tribal authorities, is calling on the community to donate good-quality secondhand items to help restock its small community shop – and make a big difference.
The shop, based at Siyakwazi’s Resource Centre just inland of Munster, plays an important role in raising funds to support children with disabilities. All proceeds go towards Siyakwazi’s programmes, which aim to ensure children with disabilities have access to equal opportunities – whether through inclusive education, therapy, or other forms of developmental support.
What can you donate?
Siyakwazi is currently in need of secondhand:
- Clothing (for children and adults)
- Toys (in working condition)
- Household items such as crockery, photo frames, linen, small décor pieces, and more
“These items may no longer serve you, but they can be incredibly valuable to someone else – and the money we raise from them helps give children support they wouldn’t otherwise have access to,” says Mata Mzelemu at Siyakwazi.
The shop is currently running low on stock, and community support is urgently needed to keep it operating. Whether you’re clearing out your cupboards or refreshing your home, Siyakwazi encourages you to donate what you no longer need.
How to donate:
Donations can be dropped off at Siyakwazi’s Resource Centre in KwaNzimakwe, or you can call 073 943 0876 to arrange a collection.
